Connections Connections is the way members of the Indiana State Reading Association find out what is going on in Area Councils statewide. This is the place for Area Councils to announce good programs, to suggest ideas to keep councils active, and to invite other councils to participate in exciting events. The fall issue of Connection is devoted to introducing the new state officers along with their messages to the membership for the upcoming year, to announcing main events in local councils, and to inviting proposals for the spring conference. One to two page pieces are appropriate for this issue and photographs are always welcome. The winter issue of Connection provides registration forms for the spring conference as well as an abbreviated program to entice members to come. A description of featured speakers is one of the highlights in this issue. Most of the issue is devoted to conference information, but other news notes are welcome as well (along with those photos!). The spring issue of Connection is the place for teachers’ stories about classroom activities that promoted reading during the year (although teachers’ stories are welcomed anytime!). What did the children especially enjoy about reading? What kinds of books did they read? What classroom motivator worked very well? Another item in the spring issue is any available conference follow up. And, remember, photographs are always welcome.
